Welcome to Grewelthorpe Village Hall and Hackfall Cafe, a hidden gem nestled in the picturesque village of Grewelthorpe, Ripon. This delightful community-run cafe isn’t just a place to grab a bite; it embodies the spirit of togetherness and warmth that defines this charming locale.

As you step inside, the welcoming atmosphere instantly envelops you. The cafe offers a menu that caters to all tastes—from light bites like toasted T cakes to heartier options that include "32 oz steaks" (all right, we might be exaggerating a little there!). No matter what you choose, each meal is prepared with care, showcasing the dedication of the volunteer staff who treat every visitor like family.

Customers rave about the cafe’s eclectic offerings. Michael Allsop describes it as a "warm-hearted friendly cafe," underscoring the communal spirit that pulses through its walls. The rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee and baked goods fills the air, inviting you to indulge in some of the best homemade cakes you’ll find anywhere, as noted by satisfied patron John Lumbard. Whether you’re in the mood for a decadent carrot cake or a delightful panini that Jen Simpson fondly recalls as the best she's ever had, there’s something here to make every visit memorable.

But it’s not just about the food; it’s about the experience. Many locals, like Mike Travis, appreciate the convenience of this cafe, especially after a satisfying ramble through the scenic Hackfall woods nearby. The natural beauty of the area creates a perfect backdrop for a post-adventure treat. Plus, with the involvement of community volunteers, you’re not just a customer; you’re supporting a vital part of local life.

One visit to Grewelthorpe Village Hall and Hackfall Cafe, and you’ll quickly understand why so many people keep returning week after week. Jean Reeve praises the friendly staff and engaging community events, including gardening club plant sales, which enhance the cafe's charm and vibrancy. It really is more than just a cafe—it's a hub of local culture and camaraderie.

So, whether you're looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a warm cup of coffee, the nostalgia of homemade cakes reminiscent of grandmother’s recipes, or a friendly environment to unwind after your outdoor excursions, Grewelthorpe Village Hall and Hackfall Cafe is waiting to welcome you with open arms.

A lovely community café with friendly staff and the added bonus of the Grewelthorpe Gardening club plant sale.

Amazing cafe. I have visited this cafe a few times with my local cycling club. Probably some of the best home made cakes anywhere. Really good coffee as well, and all served at very reasonable prices. What makes this an even nicer experience is that the cafe is part of the local community, and run by volunteers, so definitely something worth supporting. Thank you Grewelthorpe village for having the inspiration to provide this wonderful service.

Quite possibly the nicest panini I've ever had, and the homemade cakes were also delicious! My mum said the carrot cake reminded her exactly of the cake my grandma (her mum) used to make, so that moment of nostalgia made it all the more special. This unassuming village cafe in the village hall is truly a hidden gem. Upon opening the door, I was welcomed by staff and fellow customers alike! Something we particularly liked was that the choices of food, such as the paninis, aren't just the bog-standard, run of the mill offering. They were just a bit different. I opted for Emmenthal and Portobello Mushroom, and it was so tasty. We hope to visit again before the end of our holiday. I'd certainly recommend this wonderful place ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Hackfall woods is wonderful, a secluded deep wooded valley with paths leading to hidden follies and even a fountain
